Full Throttle Friday FTW!

Oh how time fly's when your havin fun, or at least waiting till the next meet comes around......

Sydney Dragway opened its gates for another 'Full Throttle Friday' meet that drew some great cars, all ready and willing to get on thr track.

With cooler temps and dark clouds hanging around all afternoon there was a lot of hessitation and worried faces in the pits, but mother nature, a keen racer herself, kept the wet stuff at bay this time.

The meet saw a good mix of cars out, 8's, 6's 4's & Rotaries, Turbos, SChargers, Nitrous and Big Block Naturally asperated monsters put on a show. But less blabbering, more pics hey......

How many of you can say that you have driven a car worth 100k+?? How bout, how many of you actually own a car like that?? If you did, would you be game enough to race it??

Well im sure a lot of you would be juust a bit hessitant to get onto the ractrack with your homeloan on wheels, but it was not the case for the owner of this super sleek AMG Mercedes CLK63.

The owner, not content with the performance of the $300,000 supercar, has tuned the susp setup, fitted some Hoosier slicks, along with new Race Bucket seats (as if the oem buckets wern't nice enough..) The performance was awsome, not to mention the mouthwatering sound comming from the exhaust, managing to lay down a few neat mid 11's, with the best, from memory being an 11.4 (sorry, missed the trap speed..) Will i be rushing out to buy one if i win lotto, ehhh, probably not...

Another strange site on the blacktop was this 1974 Toyota Corona. Owner/driver Steven Nikolovski realed of a blistering 9.9@134mph, with a nice wheels up launch that put to doubt that in between the strut towers was the original 6cyl. To make it even more surprising, you will not find a 1j, or a 2j mounted up, but a well built 7M-GTE. With a modest sized GT35r strapped on the side and power being delivered through a C4 box & 9" diff it definatly proved a great combination.

We saw plenty of tuff rotors attend the meet, Steven Abreu brought out his fresh built RX3 sedan for only the car, and drivers 2nd ever meet. The car had an issue with the chute and a bit of driver nerve's at the first meet resulting in some minor panel damage. Out to do some more testing Steve shot out a 9.8@136 on low boost and base tune. Steven had some issues getting out of the hole neatly on the night preventing the car from improving on that time. Hoping to see the car out again soon.

Another familiar car on the track was the Maatouks Racing sponsored VL previously plated VLGOD. With a new owner/driver on board the car ran very well. George Harmis seemed to slip into the drivers seat easily running a best of 8.7. Although far away from the cars PB, im sure George will be pushing the car hard to hit that mark again.

Another tuff rotor making some noise was this FAT 808 Coupe. GAS808, driven by Anthony Winter has been around for some time, but has not seen the track for quite some time. The crew were testing out a new fuel system and tune in the car since making the swap from C16, to the increasingly popular E85. the 9.6@142mph best was not indicitive of the cars potential, we hope to see it out at the up-coming Compac attak in full force.

This neat RX3, owned by John Raso made the treck from out west and was able to push the 13BT to a best of 11.6@115mph. Awesome times for a street car.

Bringing the RX3 countto 5 for the night was Steve McGirr's 9 sec Coupe, and Ross Edwards super clean Sedan.

Steve is definatly getting the hang of the clutchless 5 speed and was able to run the car through to another 9.3 pass. backing it up with several mid 9's, all on low boost.

Taking care of the commercial vehicle category was Antonio DeOleviera in the orange 1000 ute, and Mathew Glimson with his newly purchased 'SNEAKY' 1000 ute. A very neat package breaking into the 11's with ease.

The 13BT Rotamotive 323 finnished off the list of Mazda's staging up for the night, it seemed to be having gremlins throughout the night. Unfortunatly i didnt get a ET for the car... My bad..:(

Once again we also had a crazy 2 wheeler out looking to better his PB. Matt was on fire on his purple Busa, trumping his best time with a new best of 8.1@169mph. Once again confirming his riding ability and determination.... look out Leonard.....

Anything that can run sub 8sec ET's with a OEM based chassis and no forced induction deserves big respect. Simon Krygers Torana is one of those cars. F@#KING TUFF

NA 2JZ with individual throttle setup producing 400HP in a rail running 10's, now thats something different!

This little HB Torrie struggles to keep its big V8/Pro Charger setup within the confines of its bulging bonnet. Absolutly tore up the track though.

I hope you like BBQ sauce.....?

No 16V Twincam here, just a big ol 4v 351 donk. Seems to do the job just fine...

And we have to throw up some nitro goodness, cant wait for the summernationals to come around...

Well thats it for another entry, full gallery of images from Fridays meet is now up on the website http://www.jngimages.com/, next post should be for Showcar Sunday held at Fairfield in Sydney tomorrow. Something a bit different for me, a static display show... Hopefully i wont get too bored...lol

Catch ya round.

Jason
