Another Super Compact win for TCR Racing as WSID track temps soar.

Saturday 15/11 saw Rnd 3 of the WSID Track Championship roll by, and it was no real surprise to see a familiar face take home the Super Compact trophy yet again. However, nothing was made easy for the crews as mother nature yet again played her part. No rain this time, but the extreme opposite, i mean she must have busted the air con or something, it was hot as hell on the track... How hot you ask... Hows 154°F (68°C) sound? With dry wind pushing ambients into the 40's... No fun for the silly buggers trackside taking pic's all day either...

Does my facial expression in the pic below and the grass in the background give you an idea of how hot it has been this month??

But hey lets talk racing shall we...

A 6 car field in Super Compact made for a decent increase from the last meeting, with all but Rocky in the Pac Perf Mazda 6 making it through the day without any major dramas.

Dib Taouil and the crew behind the TCR Racing RX7 managed to finish on top yet again after running very consistently throughout the day despite the scorching heat. Dib took the win in the SC final against Rodney Rehayem in the Pac Perf RX3.This helped to extend their lead on the ladder, now sitting on 200, a solid 100 points clear of 2nd place Frank Cannistra. The crew were amazed that even during the hottest parts of the day the car still managed to perform. Pushing trap speeds as high as 176mph on one run which is a record for the small tyred class, and ET's in the low 8's throughout the day.The crew were certain that if the temps were a bit cooler the car would have dipped back into the 7's. Both Dib and George have assured me that they will be back stronger in the new year, personally i cant wait!
.

Rodney Rehayem definately put up a good fight into the final pushing as hard as a 7.41@185mph. The car is running as smooth as ever and is sure to be joining fellow Pac racer, Ivan Skaramuca's stunning RX3 in the race for Oz's first 6sec RX3 .

Frank Cannistra, aka MRHELI, had the project racer rx3 out on the track strutting it's stuff. A few exterior decal changes recently have given the car a cleaner look, and maybe helped the aero dynamics a bit too with the car running a new PB of 8.23@164mph ( ok ok, they may not been the sole reason for the PB.....) Although he was knocked out by the TCR RX7 in Rnd 2 of eliminations Frank is now sitting nicely in 2nd place of the Track Championship table on 100 points.

Glenn Hunter made it to eliminations in the ROTORBISHI. The stout 20B power plant pushed satin black wagon down the black top with force with a best run of 7.99 in qualifying but dropping out in eliminations after a 8.02@171mph to Dib Taouil.

Ivan Skaramuca finished off the SC field in eliminations, but was sent home by Rodney in the first Round after tyre shake gave Ivan some drama up the track.Ivan did however manage the fastest SC trap speed of the day with a 193.5mph run.

With this being the final championship event for SC this year it has already delivered the goods, even with a few issues on the weather side of things. Hopefully it can only get better as we move forward into 2010.

There was, as always a lot of other tuff cars out running hard in the other classes, a few SC Super Sedan regulars with the Ruggier Brothers Daniel (driving this event) & Jamie in the ETZV8S RX3

Moustafa Sakina in the 2 tone gen1 RX7 is another WSID regular, giving the V8's a good run.

GAS Motorsports had the new 2JZ Beemer out for testing, such an awesome looking machine it reeled off a 7.93@161 mph on its first full track pass running very straight with Joe Signorelli behind the wheel. Will be a car to watch once its all sorted for sure.

Graeme Benton made it all the way to the Super Street semi finals (Rnd4) in his neat RX2 sedan. Unfortunately suffering a driveline failure on the line. Another very consistent car with a best of 11.8@113mph.

A small minute silence memorial was held for the late Darren Sheppard who passed away this month. All the bikes made there way onto the start line where a few comforting words were said by the track chaplin.

I will leave you with a few more snaps from the day, the rest are on my website gallery http://www.jngimages.com/. Next meeting is 4/12, a Freaky Friday meet where i will be trying out some off camera flash once the sun goes down.If all goes to plan (doesnt happen that often...) it should result in some really "Flash" images ;)

Under the skin of the GAS Beemer.

This is one "MAD" enigne bay!!

The "BRICKI" GT wheels up as always.

How can you not love a bright purple turbo Busa??

This XR6T powered Cortina is fast becoming one of my track favorites!

A fish eye view as "GROUPC" fly's past tyres blazing..

Leonard Azzopardi, 2 wheels and a 7.4@194mph... This man is insane!!!

Ivan Skaramuca's new car mascot, held at her own will???
